Teacher's Aide - Glen Eden

A great opportunity has come up for a Teacher Aide for a Preschool catering to the Samoan community, a Kaiako who shares our enthusiasm for the local curriculum, creating inspiring environments partnership with parents and whanau, fun-filled learning experiences for tamariki, with respectful care as one of your core teaching practices. You will be taking care of children aged O to 4 by assisting qualified staff and doing general duties including the following:

a) Follow the staff roster and responsibilities created by Supervisor/Management b) Supervise children c) Always interact positively with the child and at the child’s level d) Observes children and their interests e) Assist with setting up children's beds and putting children down for their nap-time. f) Promote children’s health, emotional & physical well-being as well as their cultural appreciation & spiritual awareness. g) Maintain a positive attitude and professional manner at work h) Uses initiative, open communication (authenticity) and collaboration with teachers i) Participate and involved in staff meetings and discussions.

1- Speak fluent Samoan (a must) 2- Have zero past criminal convictions in order to pass Police Vetting checks. 3- Be drug-free in order to pass random testing.

While not required, it will be an advantage to a) have previous experience caring for babies and toddlers, and/or b) have an Early Childhood Qualification and/or c) First Aid training certificate.
