Quality Controllers - Apple Orchard - Appleby

An Appleby apple orchard is looking for quality controllers for their busy harvest season.

This is a Casual position that will run from early March (to be confirmed) through to end of harvest window. Hours are Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 5.00pm

QC roles involve working closely with the Assistant Manager and the pickers to check the quality of the fruit being picked each day – good communication skills are required.

Role requires going from bin to bin in the orchard and conducting quality checks on each bin. The QC will be regularly bending over into the bins and checking the quality, colour and any defects of the fruit. The QC must also be continuously observing the trees and picker behaviour, which requires a high standard of attention to detail and reporting to the Supervisor. You must have a very good level of fitness as it involves walking for 9 hours a day.

You must also be competent on a Tablet & Phone (which are provided) to record all the data from the QC checks throughout each day. A high level of organisation is required the ability to prioritise tasks. We would be happy to take on QC’s a couple of weeks prior to harvest starting in order to give them training.

High levels of fitness and determination are necessary - you will be working outdoors and there is a lot of walking involved

Previous outdoor work experience is an advantage Must be reliable and have own transport
