About this job
As a Weekend Cook, you’ll assist the Food Services Team Leader in preparing and serving nutritious meals for lunch and dinner. On weekends, you will step into the lead Cook role, so confidence in supervising others and managing meal preparation is essential.
Key responsibilities include: • Preparing morning and afternoon tea, daily meals, and ensuring they meet dietary needs. • Serving meals at the correct size and temperature. • Maintaining daily food and fridge temperature checks. • Adhering to food hygiene standards and protocols. • Ensuring residents’ dietary needs are met with care and consideration during mealtimes.
Our kitchen operates during family-friendly hours, so you’ll avoid late nights typical in hospitality roles. Additional hours may also be available to cover leave when needed, providing flexibility and an opportunity to contribute further to the team.
Job Requirements
We’re looking for someone who is organized, empathetic, and passionate about supporting the wellbeing of older people. You will also: • Be experienced in preparing meals in a commercial kitchen for groups with mixed dietary needs. • Hold a food safety/hygiene certificate. • Have strong communication skills and a person-centred approach. • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance. • Be capable of driving a manual van (or open to getting manual driving lessons) • Enjoy contributing to a team and creating positive experiences for residents. • Can pass pre-employment checks (MOJ and Police)
