Tour Boat Crew

A trainee crew person is required for a boat tour operator in Raglan. This full time job is working in a growing charter boat tourism business. Duties include learning to prepare the boat for cruises, driving the boat on the water, and hosting local passengers or overseas tourists on board. Training to expand your tourism skills is provided. As the trainee, you will work with a team of professionals including the Boat Skipper to learn all aspects of the tour operation. You will participate in boat maintenance duties and learn passenger safety drills. You and the team will be delivering the best possible service to the guests on tours that can range from 90 minutes up to 5 hours. Serving hot drinks, food, and alcoholic drinks is part of the role, full training provided. Training is also available to get your LCQ and boat Skippers or Deck Crew qualifications. Minimum requirements: • Confident ‘to-customer’ communication skills. • Tidy appearance • Willingness to learn and be coached in National Qualifications in Crew or Skippers tickets. • Team player • Previous experience in tourism / hospitality an advantage. • Water confident to participate in ‘Man Overboard’ water safety drills. • Lives locally or is willing to move to Raglan for the job. • Can find accommodation in Raglan. • Prepared for the Winter slow-down period. • Can commit to 30 hours work per week with weather-affected work rosters. • Pass a Drug test • Criminal records disclosed.
