Opportunity based at Te Awamutu We have a Farm Assistant position available. We are milking 800 cross breed cows through a 66 bail rotary shed with automatic cup removers and Pro Track. We run a system 3 with two herds and covered feed pad. JOB DESCRIPTION Milking Assist in efficient and hygienic milking routine. Follow procedure to produce high quality milk. Assist with cleaning and maintain the milking plant and farm dairy equipment and report any faults to senior staff. Assist in the safe handling of animals, reports any health and welfare issues as per farm policy. Sets break fences and feeds out as directed. Assists with nutrient, effluent and water management as directed by farm policy. Controls weeds: spot spraying in the paddock with knapsack. Work well with others, building a strong team culture. Safely uses and maintains vehicles on farm as directed by on farm policy. Health, safety and wellbeing: Involved in building a health, safety and wellbeing culture.
Job Requirements
We are looking for a motivated Dairy Assistant who is keen to learn and progress in the industry. You will have strong work ethic. You can drive motorcycle and quad, Basic tractor skills would be advantage. Working in a friendly team of four. We regularly do drug testing and strictly follow health and safety policy. Minimum hours 40 hours per week. Maximum 50 hours per week and minimum 40 hours (Any hours over 40 hours per week will be paid as overtime)Please note that shared accommodation available. Strictly NO SMOKING or vape on the farm and in the house . The farm is located 25 minutes from Te Awamutu and 30 minutes from Otorohanga.
