Herd Manager

Te Kawa based employer looking for a Herd Manager 800 cow dairy farm, system 2-3, milking through a 60 bale rotary shed. You must have at least 1 seasons experience. A farm qualification is preferred. You need to understand and take responsibility for daily tasks such as running of the dairy, effluent management and feeding. Complete tasks with minimal supervision and can supervise and train other staff. Look for opportunities to work more effectively and efficiently to improve the business. You will carry out milk harvesting tasks safely and efficiently. Solve Milk quality problems, clean and maintain milking plant, identify and diagnose animal health issues and assist with treatments and prevention in line with farm policy. Keep all records up to date. Observe, record and report on cows. Have good stockman ship. Understand mating management and recognise cows on heat. Understand pasture, crops and weeds. Understand dairy effluent and be aware of council requirements. Understand how to use agrichemicals.

You must have no criminal convictions. Be drug free as we perform pre employment and random drug testing. No pets. You must live on farm due to the requirements of the job. Have a valid drivers license. No smoking or vaping. Please send CV with 2 referees.
