Manukau Urban Maori Authority are currently recruiting for a Youth Services Manager to join their team.

The Youth Services Manager will lead and develop MUMA’s youth services, focusing on supporting and empowering rangatahi (youth) in South Auckland. The role involves strategic planning, operational management, and achieving performance outcomes to ensure that youth programmes align with MUMA’s mission to enhance the well-being of Maori youth through holistic and culturally aligned services.

Core objectives include: Programme Management & Development:

- Design, implement, and oversee youth service programs tailored to the needs of rangatahi and their whanau.

- Ensure programmes align with MUMA’s Whanau Services model, incorporating cultural, social, and educational objectives.

- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, adapting services based on feedback, trends, and best practices.

Team Leadership:

- Recruit, lead, and develop youth workers, coordinators, and support staff.

- Provide coaching and performance management to ensure high-quality service delivery.

- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and culturally aware team environment.

Community Engagement & Partnership Development:

- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including schools, iwi, government agencies, and service providers.

- Identify opportunities for service expansion and resource sharing.

- Represent MUMA at community meetings, events, and forums to advocate for youth services.

Operational & Financial Management:

- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet programme goals.

- Oversee data collection, reporting, and evaluation to track effectiveness and identify improvement areas.

- Ensure compliance with funding agreements, contractual obligations, and regulatory standards.

Strategic Planning & Reporting:

- Contribute to the development of MUMA’s strategic goals for youth services.

- Provide progress reports to senior management and funders.

- Participate in quarterly and annual reviews and adapt youth service programs as needed.

Other duties involve:

- Operate within a kaupapa Maori framework, incorporating Te Ao Maori and tikanga into daily practices.

- Fulfil other duties as required by Leadership and other departmental personnel.

- Supporting the values of our marae, hapu and Iwi.

Job Requirements

- Experience in managing government-funded programs, including risk management and quality assurance.

- Strong understanding of South Auckland’s social, economic, and cultural landscape.

- Proven experience working with Maori communities and a deep understanding of Te Ao Maori and tikanga.

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Familiarity with Client Management System.

- Strong leadership and programme management skills.

- Commitment to cultural competence and cross-cultural practices.

- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.

- Cultural Competence: deep respect for Maori culture, values, and protocols.

- Leadership Skills: strong team management and the ability to lead by example.

- Communication: excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to diverse audiences.

- Problem Solving: proactive and resourceful in addressing issues that impact service delivery.

- Reliable and self-motivated and results-driven.

- Culturally aware and committed to kaupapa Maori.
