Manukau Urban Maori Authority are currently recruiting for a Social Worker to join their team.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide housing-related social work support to whanau in South Auckland. This includes assessing needs, connecting whanau to appropriate services, and offering practical guidance to help them navigate challenges. The role ensures the well-being of whanau and empowers them to achieve stable, sustainable living environments.
Core objectives include: - Provide tailored support to whanau to achieve housing stability and overall well-being.
- Conduct assessments of needs and connect whanau to suitable services and resources.
- Offer practical guidance and problem-solving support to address housing challenges.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of interactions and interventions.
- Operate within a kaupapa Maori framework and demonstrate cultural competency in all interactions.
- Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.
- Operate within a Maori context with an understanding of Maori issues and te reo me ona tikanga.
- Supporting the values of our marae, hapu and Iwi.

Job Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in social work and experience in the social services sector, particularly in accommodation or housing services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Client Management System.
- A passion for supporting whanau to achieve stability and well-being.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional approach and presentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain resilience.
- A positive and team-oriented attitude.
- Customer service focused: committed to providing exceptional support to whanau.
- Communication: ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
- Attention to detail: strong accuracy in documentation and data management.
- Teamwork: willingness to collaborate and support colleagues.
