Cook

A Wellington restaurant is looking for a cook to join their well established and friendly team. The role of the cook will support the Senior Chef on duty, other chefs, and kitchen personnel in the brigade to produce food to the set expectations stated, during service and preparation times.

Duties include:

• Prepare and cook the Mexican food according to the menu. • Ensure Menu consistency and culinary standards in terms of presentation and taste. • Manage and maintain kitchen cleanliness, safety, and food hygiene regulations. • Manage day to day running of the kitchen. • Assists by undertaking their role during the service, this includes taking responsibility for the nightly restocking of provision of your section. • Always practices and promotes Workplace Safety. • Assists with administration of the Food Control Plan. • To have all mise en place in place ready for service times, in appropriate quantities, be proactive in this area.

• Must have excellent knowledge of Mexican cuisine. • Qualification of level 3 or above but not mandatory. • 2 years’ experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen as a commis or above. • Adheres and ensures compliance for Food Safety using the food safety data and control plan provided in the department and is familiar with these processes. • Has a sound knowledge, and practices, the N.Z. Food Hygiene Regulations and other relevant legislation in the department. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment MOJ check and Drug test.
