Come and work at Whakaora Kai. We are a food rescue organisation that rescues quality food, otherwise destined for landfill and redistributes it to community groups in Tai Tokerau. We have a central hub in Whangarei and additional sites in Moerewa and Kaikohe.
We are looking for someone to work in our Whangarei warehouse, collecting and distributing kai, recording data, doing administrative tasks and keeping the warehouse safe and tidy. You will also coordinate and work with our amazing volunteers, assign tasks, keep people up to date and organise initiatives like fruit picking days.
You must have a full driver’s licence, be physically fit and able to lift 16kg with ease, a positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to enter accurate and timely data. Warehousing and forklift experience is a bonus as well as a good understanding of Te Reo and tikanga Maori. We are looking for someone who understands and is passionate about the Kaupapa and brings a mana-enhancing approach to everything
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities • Foster and maintain strong relationships with food suppliers and community organisations. • Coordinate and support volunteers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities. • Oversee the safe and efficient collection, storage, and timely distribution of kai. • Maintain accurate inventory, perform stock checks, and handle administrative duties. • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the warehouse and equipment.
We are looking for someone who is: • A people person who builds positive relationships with ease. • Reliable and able to manage time and workloads effectively. • Physically fit, able to lift up to 16kg, and committed to health and safety practices. • A team player who can also work independently and take initiative. • Has good literacy and numeracy skills and is able to record data accurately. • Passionate about reducing food waste and supporting local communities.
