Arable Farm Assistant

A mixed cropping and livestock farm - east of Rakaia and approximately 36 km north east of Ashburton. The daily tasks range from • Assist with planting, cultivation, and harvesting of arable crops. • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides using precision technology. • Monitor crop health, and report findings to the Farm Manager. • Perform general farm upkeep. • Assist in keeping accurate records of field activities, crop treatments, inputs, and yields. • Operate a self-propelled sprayer, combine harvester, and fertilizer spreader. • Use GPS data to optimize field activities and crop planning and GPS Autosteer systems for precise planting, spraying, and fertilizing. • Conduct daily machinery checks, perform routine maintenance, and carry out minor repairs. • Adjust machinery settings to cater to various crops and field conditions. • Work closely with the farm team to support smooth operations. • Communicate effectively with the Farm Manager about equipment issues, field conditions, and crop performance.

• Minimum of 2 years of farm work experience. • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshoot farm equipment. • Reliable and responsible with a strong work ethic. • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks. • A valid driver's license is required. • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately. A Ministry of Justice check is requirement of this job.
