About this job

About Us Kick Back is a Youth Development movement refusing to Accept the Unacceptable in our society, and for us, Youth Homelessness is unacceptable, so we’re kicking back. We believe that we can build a world where no young person or child ever has to sleep on our streets or go without a safe, loving and supportive place to call home. And that sometimes the best way to critique the current system, is by mobilizing our community and building the new. So, Kick Back is innovating in the gaps, building the matauranga (knowledge) we need in order to close them. We believe that though the maunga (mountain) of ending youth homelessness may be huge, it is possible to climb. And that when we come together as a community, have the courage to dream with our eye’s open, we can move mountains. We are looking for a passionate, social justice oriented, rangatahi champion who wants to be a part of Kicking Back against the system, through innovation, service and advocacy.

About the Role

This role will be pivotal in mobilizing Kick Back’s Out Reach services, ensuring that rangatahi and tamariki are able to receive support when they need it and in manner that meets their needs. You will support Kick Back to develop a team of Kaituao (volunteer) Youth Workers who are able to support with Street Reach, providing manaaki and advocacy for rangatahi experiencing homelessness in Auckland's City Centre. To develop the service, you will take a Youth Development Approach, working with Kick Back's Rangatahi Roputo ensure the design is informed by lived experience, and grounded in the needs of our rangatahi.

There is both a frontline, and coordination aspect to this role. You will use your practical Youth Development knowledge and experience to mobilize and equip a team of energized Kaituao ensuring that any young person that reaches out to Kick Back for support, can receive the advocacy they need, ensuring that no young person is abandoned to the street. If you feel you can make a positive impact for our rangatahi then please send your CV in the first instance to peter.mumby001@msd.govt.nz
