Dairy Farm Assistant

Employer based in Matamata looking for a dairy cattle farmer to assist in the daily care and management of our herd. No experience required by can be an advantage. Perform twice a day milking duties. Assist in the shifting & feeding and health monitoring of cows. Assist with calving and other seasonal tasks. Operate and maintain farm machinery as required. Follow farm protocols and procedures to ensure the health and welfare of livestock. Shed cleaning & set up and maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the farm premises. Other general farm duties and work closely with the Share milker to achieve farm goals. No pets allowed. Shared accommodation with 2 others in a 4bedroom house. $250.00 including internet, power and wood provided for fire.

Candidates will ideally have previous farming experience or hold a training certificate related in Dairy Farming and willing to do more industry trainings • No smoking or vaping and no pets on farm and in house (due to farm regulations and safety concerns) • Ability to work 11 days on, 3 days off roster. • Minimum of 40 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours as needed • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in various weather conditions • Must have clean criminal record • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test if required • Training will be provided if needed for the qualified applicant.
