Are you passionate about food and looking for an opportunity to work in a dynamic kitchen environment? We're seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term basis in Whakatane!

Key Responsibilities: • Prepare, cook & assemble all food products required for school lunches • Ensure food production follows KPKA menus, recipes, and methods of cookery • Maintain safe work practices in line with standard operational procedures, health & safety processes, food safety (HASSAP) & employee wellbeing in all kitchens • Provide feedback of new food ideas • Advise Food production supervisors & Manager of any surplus stock. Ensure all stock is stored and rotated correctly, including labelling & dating • Advise of site repairs and maintenance • Advise of any role number changes to ensure production levels are adjusted accordingly • Assist the logistics team with service, delivery, loading & unloading of products • Always ensure clean and tidy workspace. Wash & store all dishes as required • Know your daily, weekly work plan

Job Requirements

Must be able to pass Drug and Alcohol Test Must be able to pass Ministry of Justice or Police Check Able to work under pressure. Attention to detail Excellent organizational skills and multitasking capabilities Excellent communication and relationship building skills Basic knowledge of cookery and food production preferred Fluency in Te Reo Maori ideal Able to work with diverse groups throughout the community Full Driver’s License preferred
