Dairy Farm Assistant

Manaia Farmer seeking Live in Dairy farm assistant. You would be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the dairy farm. Daily duties include milking cows and maintaining high milk quality standards, bringing cows to and from the cowshed, feeding stock, and monitoring animal health and wellbeing. The role also involves assisting with calf rearing during calving season, identifying and reporting sick or injured animals, cleaning and maintaining the cowshed, and carrying out general farm maintenance such as fencing, weed control, and water system repairs. Farm assistants may operate tractors, motorbikes, and other farm machinery where required. The position also requires following health and safety procedures, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting with seasonal farm tasks including calving, mating, and feed management.

Applicants must be physically fit, reliable, and able to work early starts, weekends, and additional hours during busy seasonal periods. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work as part of a team are essential. Previous dairy farming experience is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided. A current driver’s licence is an advantage. Applicants must also be able to follow health and safety procedures and maintain high animal welfare standards.
