Class 4 driver - Waste Management (Silverdale)

Seeking reliable and safety conscious Class 4 Drivers to support the local council’s waste removal services. This role involves operating waste collection trucks, collecting and transporting waste and recyclable materials, and ensuring compliance with all transport, environmental, and health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate Class 4 waste collection and refuse vehicles. • Operate automated side-loader trucks (“one arm bandits”) • Conduct pre-start, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections. • Secure and monitor loads to ensure compliance with transport regulations. • Maintain accurate logbooks, route records, and operational documentation. • Comply with all road transport, environmental, and workplace health and safety requirements. • Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, and site personnel. • Promptly report vehicle faults, incidents, hazards, and maintenance requirements. • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience driving automated side-loader (one arm bandits), however training can be provided for the right person. Having a WTR will be considered a bonus. Start date ASAP

To be considered you need to possess the following skills:

• Full Class 4 Driver Licence • Proven heavy vehicle driving experience, ideally in urban or council environments • Ability to operate waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently • Strong understanding of road safety rules and compliance • Preferred experience operating automated side-loader trucks (“one arm bandits”) • Ideally background in waste management, recycling, or council services • Ability to work in tight residential streets and high-traffic areas • Reliable with good time management (meeting collection schedules) • Strong health & safety mindset • Ability to work independently and follow set routes • Team player with good communication skills
