Rubbish & Waste Removal Truck Driver

Seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Class 4 Rubbish & Waste Removal Truck Driver to join our growing team based in Whenuapai, West Auckland. This role involves operating waste collection vehicles, collecting and transporting waste and recyclable materials, and ensuring compliance with all transport, environmental, and health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate Class 4 waste collection and refuse vehicles. • Collect, transport, and unload rubbish, recycling, and other waste materials. • Operate rear-loader and compactor equipment in accordance with company procedures. • Conduct pre-start, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections. • Secure and monitor loads to ensure compliance with transport regulations. • Maintain accurate logbooks, route records, and operational documentation. • Comply with all road transport, environmental, and workplace health and safety requirements. • Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, and site personnel. • Promptly report vehicle faults, incidents, hazards, and maintenance requirements. • Assist with waste handling, loading activities, and general labouring duties as required. • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation standards. • Promote responsible waste and recycling practices when interacting with customers and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience operating rear-loader refuse trucks. • Experience with dual-steer or low-entry vehicles would be advantageous.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Valid New Zealand Class 4 Driver Licence, or an equivalent overseas licence eligible for conversion to a New Zealand licence. • Clean driving and criminal record. • Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing. • Sound knowledge of New Zealand road transport regulations and logbook requirements. • Strong route planning, navigation, and time management skills. • Physically fit and capable of lifting and handling heavy materials. • Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance. • Good communication skills with a professional and customer-focused attitude. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work early starts, weekends, extended hours, and occasional overnight trips when required. • At least 6 months of relevant experience operating heavy vehicles, waste collection trucks, or similar commercial transport vehicles. • Ability to operate dual-steer or low-entry vehicles is beneficial.
