Dairy Farm Assistant

This farm property is located in and around the small township of Whitikahu, located northeast of Hamilton and comprises 250 hectares . You will be milking a herd of up to 900 cows in a 50 bale Rotary shed. Your duties will be to assist with the following: • Assists in efficient and hygienic milking routine • Follow procedure to produce high quality milk • Carry out simple milk harvesting tasks as directed, and developing correct skills to milk • Assists in safe handling of animals, reports any health and welfare issues as per farm policy • Assists with moving and handling animals safely, and observes and reports on wellbeing of all classes of stock Feed • Control weeds • Sets break fences and feeds out as directed • Assists with pasture and crop weed control, and learning about feed allocations and health issues associated with crops • Machine, vehicles and technology • Safely use and maintain vehicles on the farm as directed by farm policy.

• Must pass a Drug test • Must pass a Police check. No criminal convictions • Must have a full licence and own transport • Must be able to drive a tractor and with a valid driver's license • Must be able to detect mastitis and treat lame cows • Must have a NZ Certificate Primary Level 2 qualification and 3 weeks of dairy training.
