Hydro Truck Driver

Employer based in Penrose has a Hydro Truck Driver position available.

Role purpose and responsibility: A Hydro Truck Driver is a competent and reliable operator responsible for safely operating hydro excavation trucks and associated equipment to support civil utility and infrastructure works. The role combines skilled truck operation, hydro excavation capability, and site support activities to deliver project outcomes safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Role accountabilities

Site Delivery & Productivity • Safely operate hydro excavation trucks and associated plant/equipment • Carry out hydro excavation works around underground utilities and infrastructure • Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and cleaning • Support excavation, potholing, trenching, and utility exposure activities • Work efficiently with crews to achieve project timelines and productivity targets • Read and follow plans, utility plans, and site instructions • Identify and solve basic site issues to keep work progressing • Ensure all work is completed to company and client quality standards

Health & Safety • Take active ownership of safety on site and during vehicle operation • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks associated with hydro excavation and traffic environments • Ensure compliance with all transport, safety, and environmental requirements • Participate in pre-starts, toolbox meetings, and safety discussions • Maintain safe work practices around underground services and live utilities • Complete required safety documentation and reporting accurately

Team Contribution • Work collaboratively with Team Leaders, Operators, and Civil Crews • Support Labourers and new team members where appropriate • Lead by example in behaviours, work standards, and safety culture • Contribute positively to crew morale and team performance

Continuous Improvement • Build capability across hydro excavation, civil works, and utility operations • Take opportunities to develop additional plant and operational skills • Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, safety, and delivery outcomes Applied Skills (What I Can Do) • Strong personal time management • Effective communication on site • Competent execution of role-specific technical tasks • Strong safety practices • Basic problem solving in field conditions

Full Class 4 License Hydro Excavation experience of at least 2 years Punctual and reliable Willing to learn to improve Team player Open communicator Flexible and adaptable Be able to pass pre-employment drug test and have clean MOJ record. Please apply with an updated CV.
