Farm Assistant

This Goat Farm is in and around Te Aroha township. The farm comprises 104 hectares and you will be milking a herd of 2000 goats through a Rotary shed (100 bail) We are seeking someone who is - positive - have a can-do attitude - self-starter - reliable and responsible. The applicant will be required to have a minimum 6 to 2 years experience and as follows: • Have goat farming/milking work experience • Has mechanical experience (due to the number of farm machinery on the farm) • Mowing, spread and tractor work experience • Have good knowledge of goat husbandry and animal health • Have experience loading and operating a mixer wagon • This job includes all daily operational daily tasks including feeding, milking, animal health, and effluent management • Feeding animals with big farm machinery, feeding young stock in rearing facility, harvesting milk and administering medication, record keeping, working on our breeding program, genomics testing, general farm work and cleaning. • Some key responsibilities include (but are not limited to): • Assisting with the effective operation of all aspects of the milking process, including plant hygiene and somatic cell count, to maintain grade-free standards • Assisting with maintaining all farm animal records in an accurate and timely manner • Assisting with managing animal health programs to maintain the good health of our stock

• Must hold either restricted or full driver's licence and own reliable transport • Must be able to pass a drug test and a police check. No criminal convictions • Must live on the farm. Single man’s quarters available • No pets, no smoking or vaping. • Experience 6 months to 2 years in Goat farming • Will not look at dairy farming candidates as Goat Farming has a different Skill Set
