Youth Support Navigator (Mentor)- Year 4
About this job
Navigator – Supporting Tamariki and Rangatahi (Whangarei): A local organisation is seeking a dedicated and community-focused Navigator to join our team in Whangarei. This role has a strong focus on supporting tamariki and rangatahi within the school environment.
What is a Navigator? A Navigator is a trusted support person who works alongside individuals and whanau to help them overcome challenges and access the services they need. Rather than working in isolation, Navigators take a holistic, strengths-based approach-building relationships, advocating for families, and connecting them with the right people and resources to achieve positive outcomes. About the Role
As a Navigator, you will work alongside schools, students, and whanau to remove barriers to learning and wellbeing. You will play a key role in walking beside families—offering practical support, advocacy, and connections to services—so that young people can thrive both in and out of the classroom. Key Responsibilities • Engage directly with students and whanau to identify needs, strengths, and goals • Collaborate with school staff to support student engagement, attendance, and achievement • Advocate for families and connect them with relevant health, social, and community services • Support student wellbeing, participation, and positive outcomes • Maintain accurate case notes while upholding confidentiality and professional standards • Build and maintain strong relationships with local service providers and community stakeholders
If you are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of tamariki and rangatahi, we would love to hear from you.
Please apply with an updated CV.
