Class 2 Driving Labourer

A Civil Labourer with a Class 2 license balances driving medium rigid trucks (up to 18,000 kg GVM) with hands-on site duties. This hybrid role typically involves 70-80% manual labour and 20-30% truck driving, depending on daily construction, drainage, or roading project needs.

Core Responsibilities • Vehicle Operation: Safely drive and manoeuvre Class 2 vehicles (e.g., tippers, flatbeds, and water carts) to and from civil sites. • Compliance & Maintenance: Complete daily pre-start and post-start vehicle checks, ensure load security, and accurately maintain driver logbooks. • General Labouring: Assist the ground crew with manual tasks such as digging trenches, backfilling, site clearing, and pouring concrete. • Site Support: Spot for heavy machinery operators (like excavators or rollers), and help set up or pack down traffic management cones and signage. • Material Handling: Load and unload aggregates, pipes, asphalt, and heavy tools safely and efficiently.

Work Environment You can expect to work alongside diverse crews across infrastructure and roading projects. Standard hours are generally 40–50 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM), though night shifts and weekend work may occasionally be required.

• Licensing: A full Class 1-2 New Zealand Driver's Licence and own transport • Endorsements: WTR (Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers) endorsements are advantageous. • Certifications: Current Site Safe Passport is often required, alongside the ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
