A Business is expanding its mahi in the Wellington region with the launch of Whitiora - Out of Gate Complex Needs, a new reintegration service supporting men and women with complex needs as they transition from prison back into the community.
Whitiora delivers two key programmes Out of Gate, Complex Needs and Remand Reintegration, both grounded in whanau centred practice and strong, relational support. Our team walks alongside tangata released from prison to build stability, connection and hope.
We are looking for two part-time Educators / Kaiarahi to deliver group-based reintegration education programmes for people in custody.
The role involves facilitating structured, modular education sessions to build reintegration readiness, strengthen practical life skills, and connect participants to ongoing support. When required, you will also provide kaiarahi (navigation) support to tangata.
You'll work within custodial settings and alongside colleagues and Corrections staff, using a strengths-based, culturally responsive approach. The Educator role goes into prisons and delivers Life skills courses i.e. budgeting IRD Banking etc must be well developed person to deliver 10 modules to prisoners
Key responsibilities
• Deliver engaging group education sessions focused on reintegration and readiness for release • Adapt programme delivery for different participant groups, including wahine and rangatahi • Support participants to build confidence, decision-making and awareness of community supports • Identify immediate reintegration needs and support referrals where appropriate • Maintain accurate attendance, records, and reporting • Work collaboratively with Corrections staff and Kaiarahi / Navigators • Uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and kaupapa Maori practice

Job Requirements
About you
• Experience in education, facilitation, social services, justice, or community support • Confidence facilitating groups in structured or challenging environments • Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain strong professional boundaries • Strong communication and organisational skills • Cultural competence and a commitment to kaupapa Maori values • Resilience, flexibility, and a practical, calm approach • A full, clean New Zealand driver licence • Ability to meet Corrections security and Police vetting requirements • Experience working in custodial environments or with justice-involved people is highly desirable • A relevant Level 4 qualification (or higher) in social services, health, or a related field is desirable • Will need to pass a pre-employment MOJ check and Drug test • Will ne to have an up to date CV

- Mon-Friday dependant on what programme is running (25 hours per week)

- $68,000 – $76,000 per year, pro rata
