About this job

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Engineer Trade Assistant / Fitter Welder to join a maintenance team in a busy sawmill. Key Responsibilities • Assist with mechanical maintenance and repair work across the whole site • Replace and align electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, and drive systems • Carry out fitting, fabrication, and welding tasks • Support preventative and breakdown maintenance programmes • Oversee and assist maintenance activities in: o Processing factory areas o Sawmill operations o Boilers and kiln systems o General plant and site infrastructure • Work safely and follow all health and safety procedures

Job Requirements

Skills & Experience • Experience in fitting, welding, or mechanical maintenance • Ability to replace motors and perform mechanical installations • Welding and fabrication experience required • Experience working in industrial plants, sawmills, manufacturing, or processing environments advantageous • Good problem-solving and communication skills • Ability to work independently and within a team • Strong commitment to workplace safety

Days of work
8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday (Earlier finish on a Friday) (40 hours per week)
