Business Development Manager - Building Industry

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Christchurch, reporting to the Branch Manager.

As our Business Development Manager – New Build, you’ll optimise sales growth and performance by managing customer relationships, developing customer plans, identifying new business opportunities, and championing our product range in the market. Must have previous experience in the building industry.

In this role, you will: • Identify and secure new customers and grow sales in the new build channel • Manage and strengthen existing customer relationships to retain and expand accounts • Develop and implement customer plans based on segment needs • Negotiate customer agreements in line with company policy and profitability goals • Conduct regular customer visits and provide hands-on support where needed • Manage customer queries and complaints through to resolution • Coordinate activity with internal teams including Customer Service, Operations, Warehouse and Admin • Plan and support promotional activity in collaboration with marketing • Undertake market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities • Support forecasting activity and ensure supply meets demand

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in sales / business development / category management • Experience in customer negotiations • Strong ability to win new business and manage customer accounts • Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills • Commercial mindset with an understanding of margin and profitability • Strong planning, organisation, and time management skills • Ability to understand and explain technical product information • Competency using CRM systems (e.g. Odoo, MYOB) • Professional, proactive, and customer-focused approach Must have previous experience in the building industry.
