Apprentice Security Technician

We’re looking for our next Apprentice Security Technician to join our team. This is a junior, entry level role — ideal for a recent school leaver (or someone early in their career) who’s keen on technology, enjoys hands on work, and wants to build a long term future.

You don’t need experience in security — just the right attitude, reliability, and a genuine interest in electronics and technology. We’ll take care of the training.

What this role is all about This role starts as a trainee position and leads into a formal apprenticeship, combining on the job learning and study over three years. Successfully completing the apprenticeship will see you become a fully qualified Security Technician with a recognised Certificate in Electronic Security.

What the apprenticeship looks like: Year 1: Learn the fundamentals – tools, cabling, system installations, and safe work practices Year 2: Build confidence – fault finding, programming systems, working more independently Year 3: Advanced systems, problem solving, and qualification completion By the end, you’ll have skills that are in demand — not just here, but across the industry.

Essential: Minimum Level 2 NCEA in English, Maths, and Science Restricted or Full NZ driver’s licence Genuine interest in technology, electronics, or hands on work Honest, reliable, organised, and keen to learn Able to pass a Police check A positive, enthusiastic attitude Must have an up-to-date CV

Nice to have (but not required): Confidence using computers or technology Practical skills or experience with tools If you haven’t worked with tools before — that’s totally fine. What matters most is your attitude and willingness to learn.
