About this job

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Painter to join a growing painting business. This role involves painting and finishing work across commercial, industrial, private residential, and domestic properties, as well as vehicles and machinery. You will be working both independently and as part of a small team, often during early mornings or evenings to meet client schedules.

The position offers on-the-job training, steady hours to start of 20 hours per week and will increase as work comes. There are varied work environments including indoor and outdoor settings. You must be confident working at heights and using ladders, scaffolding, and appropriate safety equipment.

Key Responsibilities: - Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and priming - Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and other finishes to a high standard - Paint a wide range of surfaces including:

- Roofs - Walls (interior and exterior) - Windows and window frames - Toilets and wet areas - Wooden and concrete floors

Carry out painting for: - Commercial buildings - Industrial sites - Residential and domestic properties - Vehicles and machinery

Safely erect, use, and dismantle ladders and scaffolding Follow health and safety procedures at all times Travel to various job locations, including private and commercial sites Complete work to meet deadlines and schedules Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition

Job Requirements

- Minimum 20 hours per week, with flexibility required - Casual employment, with potential for increased hours and growth as business expands - Full NZ Class 1 Driver Licence - Ability to work independently and manage time effectively - Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and variable hours Confidence working at heights - Physically fit with no existing injuries (e.g. bad backs) that would affect ability to meet painting schedules - Medical health check required - Up-to-date vaccinations - No allergies to paints, plastering products, or cleaning chemicals - Ability to travel distances to multiple job sites - Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship

Qualifications & Experience - Scaffolding Certification or - 3+ years’ experience working with scaffolding

Previous experience in: - Commercial and residential painting - Indoor and outdoor painting environments - Using ladders, scaffolding, and safety equipment
