Taupo Apprenticeships: HVAC Installers, Electricians

This is an opportunity for motivated teenagers to begin a career in the HVAC and electrical trades. The role offers a combination of hands-on, on-site training and structured learning, including night classes, block courses, and supplier-led training. You will be supported by experienced tradespeople and a dedicated training provider, with clear pathways for career development and progression. Salary: Training wage $19.16 per hour, overtime paid at 1.5x, tool allowance provided Start Date: June 2026

Key Responsibilities: • Assist tradespeople with installation and servicing work • Travel to various job sites • Use tools and equipment safely under supervision • Follow instructions and ask questions when needed • Complete training coursework and apprenticeship requirements • Attend classes, block classes and training meetings • Follow health and safety procedures and wear PPE • Participate in toolbox talks and site inductions

• Minimum 90% attendance in Year 11 and Year 12 • NCEA Level 1 and Level 2 completed • Previous work experience demonstrating reliability • Ability to arrive on time every day and maintain attendance • Own transport and ability to get to sites and training • Willingness to work in commercial, industrial, and residential environments • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision • Practical aptitude and genuine interest in the trades • Ability to complete coursework, night classes and block courses on time • Good written and verbal communication skills • Electrical applicants must have completed a one-year pre-trade course
