Kitchen hand / Sushi Assistant
About this job
Assist in daily kitchen operations, including preparing sushi ingredients such as washing, cutting, and portioning vegetables, seafood, and other items. Support sushi preparation by making sushi rolls and assembling products to required standards. Perform basic fish preparation tasks including filleting and simple sashimi cutting under supervision. Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times, including proper storage, cleaning, and sanitising of kitchen equipment and work areas. Assist with stock rotation, ingredient preparation, and packaging of takeaway items. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to ensure timely service and consistent product quality. Follow instructions from senior staff and contribute to smooth kitchen operations.
Job Requirements
Applicants must be reliable, physically fit, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to follow instructions are essential. Involves fish preparation and requires the use of sharp sashimi knives Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays is required. Japanese restaurant kitchen or sushi shop experience preferred. Must pass all pre employment checks.
