About this job

We are seeking an honest and reliable team player with excellent communication skills to join and make a positive contribution to the day to day running of our 580-cow farm in Te Poi. We run an autumn calving, winter milking high input system, utilising cow manager technology, a fully automated rotary cowshed in automatic drafting. Knowledge of this system is advantageous. Your duties will be as follows: • Assisting across the board, but with a strong focus on animal health and welfare • Suitable applicants will have at least one years’ on-farm experience • You will possess excellent animal husbandry skills, including a solid understanding of seasonal stock duties, identification and treatment of common animal health conditions, as well as knowledge of good milking practices and record keeping • This position also requires solid machinery skills, together with a minimum of a restricted NZ driver’s licence • You will need to be competent in all aspects of seasonal dairy farming with good communication skills, a self-starter

Job Requirements

• Reliability and sound health for this role as it is physical • No prior ailments would be suitable • There is heavy lifting at times, be fit and able to climb in and out of a tractor daily • We have heavy machinery involved so for a health & Safety point of view no prior drug or drink driving convictions • We also have children on the farm, so this is something we take into consideration too • This is not an entry level position - not suitable for a beginner, running the high input system, we do require previous experience on farm, animal health and in the shed • Must live on the farm. 3 bedroom home available
