A employer is looking for a experienced Dairy Farm Assistant to be based in Putaruru.
Performs routine tasks on a dairy farm such as herding and milking cattle. Assists with the daily care and management of dairy livestock, including patrolling, inspecting, and reporting on animal condition, providing feed and water, and supporting animal health and welfare.
Duties include mustering and moving livestock between paddocks and milking areas to ensure adequate grazing, preparing cows for milking by cleaning udders and attaching milking machines, and maintaining cleanliness of farm facilities, equipment, and yards. The role also involves general farm maintenance such as repairing fences and fixtures, ensuring safe handling of animals, and supporting overall efficient farm operations in accordance with animal welfare and health standards.
Job Requirements
3 years experienced in dairy farming, have finished a level 3 NZQA, attended at least level 2 of milk quality.
Dairy farm assistants need to have knowledge of:
Dairy farming methods The life and breeding cycles of cattle How to use and maintain farm equipment and machinery Practical skills for tasks such as fencing and effluent management Driving skills for motorbikes, tractors or farm utility vehicles.
