Financial Mentor

Seeking experienced Financial Mentors to help build capability and resilience for individuals and whanau facing hardship in the South Auckland area. The role could also suit someone wanting to complete financial mentor training. You have to be 'switched on' and a fast learner in order to be successful in this role.

Financial Mentors have a non-judgemental approach and sound financial knowledge. They support people to make connections with local networks and social services to get the right support at the right time. Financial Mentors negotiate with creditors and advocate on behalf of whanau.

The role involves: • Providing confidential one to one support • Assisting with debt management, budgeting and goal setting • Liaising, negotiating and advocating with creditors • Facilitating workshops • Networking and community outreach • Keeping up to date with legislation sector changes and best practice

• Right to work in New Zealand. • New Zealand Full or Restricted Class 1 Driver Licence. A company van is available. (Petrol allowance will be discussed at the interview should you use your own vehicle on client visits). • Able to pass pre-employment checks (medical if required), a drug test, MOJ check and a credit check (MOJ must be clean with no convictions). • Experience in financial mentoring, case management or social services for experienced candidates - minimum 2 years experience. • Demonstrated passion for community work in South Auckland. • Commitment to diverse cultures, backgrounds and the Treaty of Waitangi. • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills; good with numbers • Strong advocacy and works with integrity. • Strong interpersonal skills, respectful and tactful. • An up to date CV on file stating your experience in this type of work. • If you speak Samoan or Tongan that is preferable but not essential.
