Retail Sales Assistant

This position is based in Te Awamutu • Greeting customers who enter the shop • Listen to customer’s questions and concerns, and provide answers • Provide information about products and services • Assisting shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for • Take orders, calculate charges, and process billing or payments • Review or make changes to customer accounts • Ensure that all customer complaints are managed according to company policy and that all warrantee claims are fully and properly recorded and progressed to resolution, including customer satisfaction and reporting to senior management, as per company policy • Record details of customer contacts and action taken • Review and select standard responses for answers or solutions • Follow management instructions concerning daily stocktake procedures, and stock-take reporting processes to management on a daily basis • Refer customers to supervisors or more experienced employees when appropriate to do so • Review product expiry dates and report this to management as per company policy • Retailers must adhere to the Consumer Guarantees Act: at all times, ensure that every product line has a price/price tag on display, which is legible to customers. Inform your manager of any errors or faults in any pricing immediately you become aware of them. Take corrective action immediately once instructed by management • Support all management initiatives • Provide any information or reporting from managers as requested, in a timely manner • Report to the Store Manager or Assistant Manager as requested • Support all management initiatives

Having a friendly and engaging personality. • Comfortable working with members of the public. • Should have a confident manner. • Must be helpful and polite. • Assistants should be physically fit as they will be on their feet for most of the day and may be required to lift large amounts of stock. • You should have a comprehensive understanding of your area of sales i.e. retail, Fast Moving Consumer Goods. • Able to work as part of a sales team. • Knowledge of inventory techniques.
