About this job

As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care and support to tangata whaiora within a kaupapa Maori residential setting. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to support individuals with mental health and addiction needs to achieve improved wellbeing and independence.

This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to follow clinical guidance, build strong relationships, and contribute to a safe, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities: - Provide high-quality, culturally appropriate care and support to tangata whaiora - Follow clinical plans and guidance from senior staff and clinicians - Support residents with daily living routines, wellbeing, and independence - Maintain accurate and timely records and reporting - Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive residential environment - Work collaboratively as part of a kaupapa Maori team - Support connection to whanau, community, and cultural practices.

Job Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

Essential: - Full New Zealand Driver Licence (no restrictions) - Ability to work rostered shifts, including nights and weekends - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Ability to follow clinical instructions and care plans - Comfortable working in a residential care environment

Preferred: - Level 4 qualification in Mental Health & Addictions, Social Work, Youth Work (or working towards) - Experience in mental health, addiction, or community support services - Experience working within kaupapa Maori or Whanau Ora frameworks

Cultural Capability: - Understanding of tikanga Maori and kaupapa Maori practice - Ability to engage respectfully with whanau, hapu, and community - Willingness to participate in wananga, karakia, and cultural activities

Key Attributes: - Empathy and resilience in a frontline environment - Reliability and professionalism - Strong organisational and record-keeping skills - A proactive, positive attitude

Rostered shifts available - weekend, weekday and casual pool. (30 hours per week)
