Our employer the country's largest dedicated expert in three waters - around 600 good people, making it happen across 10 locations. They specialise in water network maintenance and reticulation renewal construction. Our employer is proud to have been selected as the preferred contractor for the Dunedin City Council 3 Waters Maintenance Contract. As they prepare for the new contract commencing July 2026, they are expanding their team and have a range of vacancies available now, with more to come. The new 10-year contract provides long term stability, meaningful career pathways and the chance to be part of a team delivering essential services to the Dunedin community. Right now, they are on the hunt for Water Technicians to play a key role in maintaining and operating water networks. In this role you will be actively installing, repairing, maintaining water reticulation networks on a reactive or scheduled basis. Duties include: - Installing new water main pipes and connections. - Repairing leaking water mains, service pipes, meter connections and shut offs. - Servicing and replacing Valves Hydrants and replacing shut offs. - Flushing, digging trenches and delivering resources to sites. What you’ll need: - Ideally you will have previous experience in working with water reticulation networks. - We need someone who is able and willing to participate in the on-call and standby roster. - You will need to be physically fit, health and safety focused and work well in a team as well as independently. - A full class 1 licence and wheel, tracks and rollers endorsement or training towards is also essential, class 2 is advantageous. All preferred candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks to the employer’s satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to: - Ministry of Justice criminal background report - Medical assessment - Drug and alcohol testing
Job Requirements
- Pass pre-employment checks including criminal background, drug & alcohol, medical assessment etc - Full class 1 and 2 license and reliable transport to work. WTR also preferred. - Fit and healthy with no current injuries or significant historical injuries - Up to date presentable CV and two contactable references - Reliable with a strong work ethic - Experience in a physical based role and the ability to undertake heavy lifting - Positive attitude and excellent communicator - Customer focused - Health and safety focused - Able to commit to an on-call roster - Previous experience working with water reticulation networks is preferred but not essential
