Our employer the country's largest dedicated expert in three waters - around 600 good people, making it happen across 10 locations. They specialise in water network maintenance and reticulation renewal construction.

Our employer is proud to have been selected as the preferred contractor for the Dunedin City Council 3 Waters Maintenance Contract. As they prepare for the new contract commencing July 2026, they are expanding their team and have a range of vacancies available now, with more to come. The new 10 year contract provides long term stability, meaningful career pathways and the chance to be part of a team delivering essential services to the Dunedin community.

Right now they are on the hunt for Drainlayers to work with a supportive crew installing, repairing and maintaining drainage systems.

Duties include: - Repairing and maintaining stormwater and wastewater networks across Dunedin. - Assisting with technical guidance on drainage projects — from developing scopes and schedules of work to ensuring quality and compliance. - Understand all reworks, and ensure learnings are bought to appropriate staff’s attention - Operating and maintaining small plant and equipment, including vehicles (training provided where needed). What you’ll need: - At least 2 years of relevant Industry experience. - A good understanding of drainage maintenance, installation, and repairs. - A strong focus on health, safety, and environmental care. - We need someone who is able and willing to participate in the on-call and standby roster. - You will need to be physically fit, health and safety focused and work well in a team as well as independently. - A full class 1 and 2 licence and ability to operate a digger. - Ability to work efficiently and problem solve under pressure.

All preferred candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks to the employers satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to: - Ministry of Justice criminal background report - Medical assessment - Drug and alcohol testing

Job Requirements

- Pass pre-employment checks including, criminal background check, drug & alcohol, medical etc - Full class 1 and 2 license and reliable transport to work. Ability to operate a digger. - Fit and healthy with no current injuries or significant history injuries - Up to date presentable CV and two contactable references - Reliable with a strong work ethic - Experience in a physical based role and the ability to undertake heavy lifting - Positive attitude and excellent communicator - Customer focused - Health and safety focused - Problem solving skills - At least two years prior relevant experience and or qualification

Days of work
Generally Mon-Fri but some weekends will be required. Hours TBC. (40 hours per week)
