Automotive Technician - Car Mechanic

A busy car dealership and car rental company in Otahuhu is seeking a practical, hands-on Automotive Technician / Mechanical Assistant to support the maintenance and preparation of our vehicle fleet.
The ideal candidate will be mechanically minded, reliable, and detail-oriented, with a genuine interest in vehicle repair and maintenance. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key responsibilities include:
• Carrying out basic vehicle servicing and maintenance, including oil and fluid changes, filter replacements, tyre rotations, and battery replacements • Conducting pre-rental and post-rental vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and road-ready • Assisting with the preparation of vehicles for sale • Identifying mechanical issues and reporting findings to senior staff or external service providers • Carrying out basic repairs and replacements, including brakes, lights, wiper blades, belts, hoses, and tyres • Assisting with WOF preparation by identifying required repairs • Completing inspection reports and maintenance documentation accurately • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment Following all Health and Safety at Work Act requirements and company procedures

Job Requirements
• Must have a CV and cover letter at the time of application • Must be able to pass pre-employment Ministry of Justice and drug checks • Mechanical background with practical experience and basic car repair knowledge • Strong mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn • Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools • Full New Zealand driver licence • Own reliable transport • Reliable, honest, hardworking, and committed • Team-focused with a strong awareness of workplace safety • Physically capable of performing hands-on work and managing varied daily tasks • Formal automotive or mechanical qualifications are not essential but are an advantage

- Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm with weekends as required (30 hours per week)
