Press Brake or CNC Machine Operator

A well-established Lower Hutt engineering and manufacturing workshop is seeking a Press Brake Operator and/or CNC Machine Operator to join their team. The company delivers CNC machining, turning, fabrication, welding, repairs, and custom components to commercial and industrial clients.

This role is open to applicants with experience in: Press-brake operation CNC machining (turning/lathe work) Or both

Key Responsibilities - Depending on your experience, duties may include:

Press Brake: • Cut and fold metal components to specification • Select tooling and accurately set up machines • Perform safe bending operations and assist with production runs

CNC Operator: • Operate and set up CNC turning lathes • Load materials and monitor machining processes • Use turning/facing tools and drills • Conduct measurements and quality checks

General Workshop: • Use hand and power tools (grinders, drills) • Assist with assembly and finishing • Maintain strong safety awareness • Support general workshop operations and housekeeping

Must Have (for either role):

• Experience operating a press-brake OR CNC turning lathe machinery. • Confidence using hand and power tools. • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability (e.g. working on vehicles, engines or workshop projects). • Good understanding of safe workshop practices. • Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work within a small team. • Ability to pass pre-employment checks (MOJ check and drug screening).

Preferred (but not essential):

• Experience in both press-brake and CNC machining environments. • Machine setting experience. • Exposure to fabrication, machining, repairs or manufacturing in a similar workshop.
