Recruitment and Rostering Manager 2026 General Election (Fixed Term)
The Electoral Commission is seeking highly organised and people-focused Recruitment and Rostering Managers to join an Electorate Leadership Team and support the delivery of voting services for the 2026 General Election.
These roles will support the South Auckland and Port Waikato electorates. Electorate headquarters are located across three sites. - The Manurewa and Takanini electorates are based at the Manukau headquarters. - The Otahuhu and Mangere Electorates are based in the Otahuhu Headquarters - The Papakura and the Port Waikato Electorates are based in the Drury Headquarters
About the Role In this role you will lead the recruitment, training coordination, and rostering of the temporary workforce that supports voting services within your electorate. You will ensure the right people are recruited, trained, scheduled, and paid so that voting services run smoothly for communities across Aotearoa.
Working closely with the Electorate Manager, Regional Training Manager, and wider regional teams, you will help build a workforce that reflects the community it serves, while ensuring all recruitment and rostering activities meet Electoral Commission standards and policies.
This is a 5-month fixed-term role ending on 11 December 2026. - Develop and implement recruitment and rostering plans to meet workforce needs, approximately 300–400 roles. - Lead large-scale recruitment campaigns for electorate headquarters and voting places. - Coordinate and support training programmes in partnership with Trainers and Regional Training Managers. - Assign successful applicants to roles and manage training and shift schedules. - Maintain accurate payroll and HR records and provide regular updates to the Electorate Manager. - Build strong relationships with community networks and internal stakeholders. - Collaborate with neighbouring electorates and contribute to a high-performing regional team. - Proactively manage risks and maintain effective communication across teams. - Uphold Electoral Commission policies, including political neutrality and health and safety practices. - Support culturally responsive engagement, including with Maori, iwi, hapu, and community organisations.

Job Requirements
- Previous experience as a Recruitment and Rostering Manager. Electoral Commission experience is advantageous. - Experience in recruitment, workforce coordination, rostering, or largescale hiring campaigns. - Advanced Microsoft Office skills Excel, Outlook, Word and ability to learn new systems quickly. - Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. - Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. - Experience working with diverse communities, including Maori and Pacific peoples. - Confidence using recruitment systems and workforce data. - A collaborative team player with a proactive approach. - Commitment to integrity, political neutrality, and public service. - Relevant tertiary qualification and or equivalent experience. - Full New Zealand Driver Licence. - Ability to pass Ministry of Justice Check.

- Mon-Fri 9.00am-5.00pm but flexible Must be available to work weekends when required-flexible hours during election periods. (40 hours per week)
