Support Worker - Green Island

What does a Support Worker do? As part of a wider team, you will assist our clients to live as independently as possible, within their homes and community. You will help our clients to achieve their goals and reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support. Responsibilities can be varied and you will follow a care plan, which may include some or all of the below:

• Meal preparation • Community outings and integration • Giving medication • Personal cares (showering, toileting etc) • Home management

You will earn between $ 23.97 - 29.68 per hour, depending on experience and qualification. What are we looking for? • Attitude - a desire to help and support others, achieving excellence in all you do! • Previous healthcare or care-giving experience is desirable, although not essential • Excellent communication skills • Healthcare qualifications are advantageous • Most positions require a full NZ drivers' licence and your own reliable transport • Applicants that live within 10-15km of Green Island, Dunedin.

You must possess the right to work in New Zealand and a willingness to undergo police vetting and additional checks in order to be considered for this position.

• NZQA Health & Wellbeing Level 3 or 4 • Have an updated CV with at least 2 contactable referees • Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice check • Must live within 10-15km of Green Island • Applicants must hold a full driver’s licence and have access to their own vehicle, as driving may be required during work to assist with some tasks, as well as for commuting to and from the workplace. • Understanding of the disability, home and community sector, including Health & Safety and sector standards • Community experience is an advantage; a genuine, empathetic approach and strong boundaries are essential (training provided) • Good numeracy and literacy skills
