About this job

About the Role We are looking for an experienced and approachable Class 4 Truck Driver with HIAB experience to join our busy delivery fleet. In this role, you aren’t just dropping off timber—you are the final, crucial link in our customer service chain. You will be delivering trade building supplies and pre-nailed frames directly to active construction sites. Because you will be interacting directly with builders, site managers, and project leads every day, bringing a genuinely friendly, helpful, and professional attitude to the job is just as important as your driving skills. Key Responsibilities • Safe Delivery: Safely operate a Class 4 truck to deliver a wide variety of building materials, including bulky items and pre-nailed frames, to residential and commercial building sites. • HIAB Operation: Expertly and safely operate a truck-mounted HIAB crane to load and unload materials in varying site conditions and tight spaces. • Customer Service: Act as the face of our company on-site. Greet customers with a smile, communicate clearly about where they want materials placed, and handle any immediate on-site questions with a positive, solutions-focused attitude. • Load Management: Ensure all loads are correctly secured and strapped before leaving the yard, checking delivery dockets to guarantee the right gear is going to the right site. • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-start checks, keep your truck clean and presentable, and report any maintenance issues promptly to the dispatcher. • Health & Safety: Strictly adhere to all road transport laws, company safety policies, and specific on-site health and safety protocols. Skills & Qualifications • Licenses: A clean, current New Zealand Class 4 Driver License. • Certifications: A current HIAB/Crane Operator certificate with proven, hands-on experience lifting building materials or similar freight. • Attitude: A standout, friendly personality. You need to be a "people person" who enjoys banter with the builders while remaining highly professional. • Communication: Excellent English communication skills to effectively liaise with the dispatcher, yard staff, and customers. • Physical Fitness: This is a hands-on role that requires a good level of physical fitness and the ability to manually handle building products when required. • Local Knowledge: Good geographical knowledge of the local region to navigate to sites efficiently.
