The Team Leader is responsible for leading and working alongside a crew of General Hands and Operators to ensure daily targets are met safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role involves task allocation, on-the tools leadership, quality monitoring, daily reporting, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and project requirements. Responsibilities & Duties Team Leader Lead and work alongside a team of General Hands and Operators to deliver daily target efficiently, safely, and to a high quality standard. Be hands-on with your team, setting the pace, motivating them to meet daily numbers, and maintaining strong team engagement. Allocate tasks based on skills and experience, while supporting team development and cross-training. Monitor quality, ensuring all work complies with SOPs, project specs, and Inspection and Testing Checklists. Ensure your team understands SOPs and toolbox content; provide guidance where needed. Identify and escalate any issues, concerns, or competency gaps to the Senior Supervisor. Accurately report daily progress against targets to the Senior Supervisor and/or Construction Manager or Quality Manager, including updates on re-work progress where applicable. Immediately report all near-misses, safety concerns, and any damage to company property, tools, or equipment to the Senior Supervisor or Construction Manager. Clearly and accurately communicate facts of the event(s) to support prompt action, learning, and continuous improvement. Operate machinery (e.g. excavators, trenchers, skid steers) and perform manual tasks such as lifting, excavation, and drilling, as required and within your competence and licensing. Use basic construction tools and equipment to support the team. Carry out other duties as required to ensure project success.
Job Requirements
Required: NZ Drivers Licence Type Full NZ Drivers Class 1 (2 is req. for heavy machinery operation) Previous experience in a similar role.
