About this job

We are looking for a passionate Employment Coordinator to deliver a migrant and employment support programme for a Trust in Grey Lynn. You’ll work closely with migrant and ethnic communities across New Zealand to help them settle, understand the job market & secure employment.

There is some flexibility to work from home when workshops aren't running. You will spend approximately 50% of your time supporting clients with employment readiness, while the remaining 50% will focus on building and maintaining partnerships with employers to secure job opportunities.

You will also engage with industries and sectors to develop collaborative partnerships, with the goal of creating sustainable employment pathways for clients.

Duties Include:

Employment Coordination • Work with employers to support clients into employment and identify new opportunities • Email and follow up with employers to explore partnerships and placements • Track job applications and provide guidance to clients on CVs, interviews, and settling into new roles

Supporting Clients & Delivering Workshops • Deliver workshops (digital and in-person) and one-on-one support sessions • Facilitate group sessions using tailored presentations and learning resources • Answer client questions and provide ongoing guidance to help them reach their employment goals • Take photos during workshops for reporting and promotion

Preparing Materials & Administration • Create flyers in Publisher for upcoming workshops and email them to community groups and clients • Develop PowerPoint presentations for workshop delivery • Maintain accurate records of clients, employers, and community groups in Excel/database • Complete weekly reporting, including timesheets, updated flyers, presentations & database updates

Community Engagement & Networking • Build connections with community groups, migrant networks, and local organisations • Organise outreach events and promote the Trust’s services • Maintain regular communication with community partners and employers to support clients

Occasional Meal Preparation • Assist with meal preparation once a month for up to 20 people, including simple curries, rice, halal/vegan dishes, salads, and tea • Help with community connect group setup, cleanup & kitchen hygiene

Job Requirements

The ideal candidates would be someone looking for a part-time role, with previous experience or willingness to work in recruitment to support clients with job matching and placements.

Must be confident approaching employers and able to work with them to support and establish employment pathways for clients.

Must have experience or interest in community engagement, including developing networks with community groups to organise workshops for migrant support.

Must be able to facilitate workshops and be trained to deliver an employment support programme (training provided).

Must be willing to assist with meal preparation on a monthly basis for up to 20 people, including simple dishes such as curries, halal and vegan options, rice, salads, baking, and tea

Must have, or be prepared to obtain, Food Safety Training and Certification – with knowledge of food handling and hygiene practices to work in a community kitchen.

Must be able to lift up to 20kg to assist with setting out chairs, tables and heavy pots in the kitchen.

Days of work
Flexible hours, Sunday to Friday, some evenings up to 7pm. Work one Saturday every four weeks, 11am–8pm. (15 hours per week)
