Shift Supervisor - Newlands

A busy Newlands store is looking for a Shift Supervisor to join their team.

Duties include: • Oversee the day-to-day operations and overall functioning of the store during assigned shifts • Ensure store processes are efficient, compliant, and continuously improved • Provide and drive exceptional customer service standards across the store • Supervise staff, allocate tasks, and monitor performance to ensure smooth operations • Lead, motivate, and develop team members while maintaining a positive work environment • Support the Store Manager and independently manage store operations in their absence • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff • Manage stock, ordering, and inventory of a wide range of ethnic grocery products, including sourcing from specialised suppliers • Research and source new products relevant to the ethnic grocery market • Assist customers with product knowledge, including the use and background of ethnic food items • Monitor ethnic grocery market trends and competitor pricing to support product selection and sales strategies

• A minimum of 6 months’ relevant work experience, or a qualification at NZQF Level 5 or higher or any bachelor’s degree • Previous experience in an ethnic grocery store environment is highly desirable • It is an advantage to know the local Indian languages to communicate with the customers • Knowledge of developing ethnic grocery stores are vital • Strong knowledge and understanding of ethnic grocery retail operations is essential • Position will require weekend work and split shifts • Able to work on public holidays • Able to perform the tasks independently • A passion for excellence in customer service and sales • Excellent understanding of merchandising and store presentation • Able to work late in the evening and do the closing of the business • Hold a Full driver’s licence
