Horticulture Development Manager

This fixed-term role is focused on establishing and developing new garden areas to support a not for profit Trusts expanding social enterprise and inclusive participation programmes.

The Horticulture Development Manager will support the planning, preparation, and planting of new productive growing spaces while working alongside people with learning and intellectual disabilities in a supportive, enabling environment. Some key responsibilities include: Assisting with the planning and establishment of new vegetable and fruit growing areas, including layout, soil preparation, and infrastructure, Developing seasonal crop plans, sowing schedules, and rotation systems for new garden spaces and, Work alongside volunteers including people with learning and intellectual disabilities in garden development and growing activities.

Practical experience growing vegetables in a productive garden or market garden setting. Experience establishing or developing new garden or growing areas. Strong knowledge of seasonal crop planning, sowing, and plant care. Ability to organise work and manage horticultural tasks independently. Experience working with, or willingness to work with, people with learning and intellectual disabilities. Clear communication skills and ability to adapt instruction to different learning needs. Good physical fitness for manual outdoor work. Experience supervising volunteers or small teams- desirable
