Position Objective: To provide excellent care and education to children.
Provide quality care and education for children • To maintain an appropriate learning environment. • To supervise children ensuring their needs are met at all times. • To cooperatively plan and implement the programme. • To provide feedback to parents. • Take responsibility for the safety and security of the centre. Curriculum and Environment • Ensure that areas have activities and equipment available that promote and extend children’s learning. Ensure that activities are changed and introduced as needed. • To interact with children in a way that stimulates and extends their learning. • Interactions with children are frequent and meaningful. • Respond to children’s physical and emotional needs in a timely fashion. • To cooperatively plan and implement a programme consistent with Te Whaariki and Christian teaching values. • To ensure that StoryPark stories (if delegated to you) are at a high standard and made available to parents. • Ensure that areas of learning are maintained and equipment is cared for. Parent and visitor interactions • Greet parents and children by name. Ensure that parents and visitors feel valued and welcome. • Ensure that children are ready to leave in a clean and tidy state with all of their possessions at the end of the day. • Give parents informal feedback on the children’s day. • Be involved in formal assessment and planning of children. • Passing on parent’s complaints to the Leader • Pass on any concerns about a child to the Centre Leader who may approach the parent. • Open or close centre at the end of the day if required to do so.
Job Requirements
* Holds an Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree and is provisionally or fully registered * Strong skills in positive behaviour management * Ability to support children’s self-regulation and emotional wellbeing * Demonstrates respect and effectiveness when working with diverse cultures * Sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in practice * Works collaboratively and effectively within a team environment * Communicates in a professional, respectful, and clear manner * Builds warm, trusting, and responsive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
