Dairy Farm Assistant

This farm is in and around the outskirts of Te Kauwaha Township. They run a herd of 550 cows who are milked in a herringbone shed 44 aside. The farm comprises 170 hectares.

Your duties will be as follows • Assisting in an efficient and hygienic milking routine • Identify and treat lameness, mastitis cows and other metabolic diseases • Assist in calving cows and feeding calves. • Assist in cleaning and maintaining the milking plant and farm equipment • Assist with day-to-day jobs on the dairy farm such as setting up break fences, spraying weeds, shifting k-line irrigation and effluent irrigator • Work well with others and independently • Safety use and maintain farm vehicles • Model farm health and safety plan and other relevant policies.

Job Requirements • No experience needed however a good attitude and desire to learn is important • We have a strict no drug and alcohol policy which includes random drug testing • Must pass a Police check. No criminal convictions • Pets not allowed • You must hold a valid New Zealand driver’s license minimum restricted and own transport • Salary is between $60000 to $75000 depending on experience, including accommodation. • Accommodation provided is a studio apartment so would not suit a family • Must live on the farm • No smoking or vaping
