The Ports of Auckland are looking for Stevedores to join their hardworking team that keeps the country going! Lasher Position: You will start as a Lasher, an important role that is physically challenging, requiring team work and strict adherence to health and safety. Working as part team working rostered shifts across the full week, including nights and weekends.

Lashers are responsible for:

• Securing and releasing the equipment on board a vessel that secures the containers for safe transhipment. • Working on the vessel or lash platform inserting and removing twist locks to and from containers, ensuring safe stowage on-board the vessel

Pay Information: • Pay rate during training is $23.83 per hour (3 weeks training, plus 160hrs in the operation to be “signed off”) • Once training is completed and have qualified, the pay rate is $29.01 per hour • A Weekend Allowance rate of 1.30 times the Stevedores hourly wage will be paid to all Stevedores for all hours worked between 1900 Friday and 1900 Sunday to compensate for working on the weekend. • Night Allowance (For shifts with hours falling between 0001 and 0400 hours or shifts which span midnight) $59.70 • Shift Meal Money (Allowance per shift for afternoon/nights) $11.32 • Benefits include: KiwiSaver matched up to 10% and Southern Cross Medical for employee and their immediate family (T&C’s apply)

Job Requirements

MUST haves:

• CV must reflect a consistent employment history, ideally with roles held for at least 2–3 years, demonstrating commitment and reliability.

• This is not the right role for someone returning to the workforce after an extended break (candidates have been declined on this basis previously, as the level of operational risk and required readiness does not align with this)

• Motivated, career focused individuals (this is a real opportunity for those that really want it)

• Best suits candidates with work experience, ideally within a physically strenuous role (construction, scaffolding, fishing, etc)

• Physically fit (this is a physical job)

• Excellent time management (The Port runs on the team and everyone needs to be on shift, on time)

• Health and Safety mindset (your team depend on you, and you depend on your team)

• Able to work as part of a team (the efficiency and safety of the team is based on this)

• Able to communicate with a good level of English

• Minimum restricted driver’s licence

• Able to work rostered shifts with availability 24 hours, seven days a week

• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test & Ministry of Justice check
