About the Role A Mount based adventure park is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Rock-Climbing Coach & Head Route Setter to join their team. This is a combined role, where coaching and route setting work together to support climber development, classes, and competitions. The role focuses on creating clear climbing progression on the walls that directly supports coaching programmes, recreational climbers, and competitive events.

Senior Rock-Climbing Coach Responsibilities You will work closely with the Head Coach to support the growth of both competitive and recreational climbing.

Key responsibilities include: Coaching youth and adult climbers in classes and programmes Monitoring athlete progress and providing structured feedback and performance reviews Supporting climbers’ development through clear progression pathways Ensuring coaching follows current best practice in climbing performance and safety Ensuring all coaching activities meet health and safety requirements and gym policies Maintaining strong risk management during all training sessions Upholding safeguarding and child protection responsibilities always Keeping accurate records of attendance, progression, and training plans

Head Route Setter Responsibilities You will lead wall setting to ensure it aligns with the company coaching and competition needs.

Key responsibilities include: Setting routes and boulders safely in line with the Safety Management Plan Ensuring all climbs are safe and suitable for public use Maintaining grade consistency and style variety within the company setting framework Ensuring wall progression supports coaching classes and athlete development Planning and leading route setting for competitions, leagues, and events Coordinating and leading setting sessions where required

Skills and Experience Strong experience in rock climbing coaching Proven route setting experience across multiple grades and styles Ability to work safely and follow risk management processes Strong communication and leadership skills Experience working with youth and adult climbers Understanding of safeguarding and safety responsibilities

Job Requirements

Must be fit and reliable pass a drug test and criminal check Advanced experience in rock climbing and route setting Transport to get to work flexibility to work weekends on a roster Adhere to health and safety standards
