Healthcare Assistant
About this job
Provide daily care and support to residents in an aged care facility under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assist residents with activities of daily living including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility support and eating/feeding. Support safe medication assistance as directed. Observe residents’ condition and report any changes to the nursing team. Maintain accurate care records and follow duty schedules and care plans. Assist with maintaining a clean and safe environment, including laundry, cleaning and kitchen support duties when required. Follow infection control procedures and hygiene standards, particularly hand hygiene. Communicate respectfully with residents, families and staff while supporting residents’ dignity, wellbeing and independence. Work collaboratively with the care team to ensure residents receive safe, consistent and person-centred care.
Job Requirements
A relevant NZQF Level 2, Level 3 or Level 4 qualification, OR At least 1 year of relevant experience (experience may substitute for the formal qualification)
